"My goal is to push the boundaries and contemporise the idea of what stained glass and leadlighting are and can be."
Tamryn Howard is an emerging glass artist based in Ōtautahi (Christchurch), primarily working with stained glass, leadlighting and kilnforming.
“My goal is to push the boundaries and contemporise the idea of what stained glass and leadlighting are and can be.
I aim to do this by combining the forms of stained glass painting, fusing, slumping, kilncarving and leadlighting. Either by creating windows, lightboxes or 3D sculptures”
Tamryn holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design and has most recently exhibited at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts - Academy Prize for Visual Art 2025 in Pōneke (Wellington) and the 2025 ILT Murihiku Art Awards in Waihōpai (Invercargill).
