Stephen Williams

Stephen is a sculptor working in cast glass, bronze and molded polythene

In making abstract sculptures in glass, he explores the tension and balance of contrasting forms. He juxtaposes the aesthetic beauty of shapes found in biology and the human form with designs found in manufactured products. In doing so, he strives to disrupt the symmetry and predictability of these forms, while preserving the integrity of the sculpture. His hollow sculptures create an extra dimension, enabling the interior to become a feature. Stephen welcomes studio visits at his Khandallah, Wellington studio by appointment.
